Friends, one of the evergreen sitcoms that has ended a long back is planned to have a reunion show from WarnerMedia. The filming of this special was actually planned to start last year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And now, Variety reports that the new production starting date to be April 5th, 2021.
Friends Special Gearing up For Filming
Friends are undoubtedly one of the best sitcoms America has ever produced. Starting in 1994, Friends ran till 2004 with 10 seasons of joy, laugh and many cherishing moments. The cast of six – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry have been so influential that, many have related their life situations with various episodes of it.
As the craze of this sitcom didn’t die yet, the current owners are planning to make a reunion of these six friends, and fill the lost joy again in fans. After Netflix, WarnerMedia has taken the rights of Friends to stream all 10 seasons now. Thus, the special reunion show they’re planning now will be released on its affiliate OTT – HBO Max.
The production of this special was actually scheduled for February last year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic eventually. But now, a source to variety revealed that the filming for this special will start on April 5. Also, as per earlier reports, each of the six actors in this show will be paid $2.5 million!
WarnerMedia has seen a lot of scope in this special project, as it reportedly brought rights for the original 10-season series for over $400 million. As it’s eager to retouch the hearts of fans, it can’t wait for long but to start. The makers have even thought of making this special virtually possible, but that didn’t work out either.
